Federal regulations provide that a Fire Cost Threshold must be met for each fire, either by the individual fire costs or the cumulative fire costs for the calendar year. In 2005 the individual fire threshold is $335,965 and the cumulative fire threshold is $1,007,895. This amount is adjusted annually according to the Consumer Price Index. When all costs have been determined, EMD will verify that the threshold has been met. If the threshold has not been met, no costs are eligible for reimbursement and EMD will notify each applicant.
EMD will submit the total funding package to FEMA if the threshold is met. This includes all of the PWs and a federal request for funding.
