Grants

The Emergency Management Division coordinates a number of grants available to state and local jurisdictions, including:

  • Homeland Security Grants - These grants enhance the ability of Washington State’s tribes, counties, cities, governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations to prepare for, prevent, protect against, respond to and recover from terrorist attacks and other major disasters.
  • Hazard Mitigation Grants - These programs fund projects and hazard mitigation plans that reduce the effects of hazards and/or vulnerability to future disaster damage.
  • Disaster Assistance - Disaster Assistance grants enable local and state governments, special purpose districts, private nonprofit organizations, Indian tribes, and state citizens to recover from the immediate and longterm impacts of disasters.
  • Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) Grant - Grant funds will be passed through to tribal and local emergency management offices having functional and active LEPC's and TERC's.
  • Emergency Management Preparedness Assistance Grant (EMPAG) - A one time $1.6 million appropriation from the Washington State Legislature that funded local governments, tribal governments, regional agencies, regional incident management teams and private organizations during State Fiscal Year 2006 for high impact, short-term emergency preparedness projects.
